Chairman, Computer Engineering Department
The Computer Engineering Department at KFUPM, established in 1986, has a proud history, and I am honored to be among its first graduates. Starting with an excellent undergraduate program, the department has evolved over the years into one of the region’s leading disciplines. We offer a variety of exciting undergraduate and graduate programs, taught by world-class faculty, within a learning environment that both supports and challenges our students.
Our curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation in the essential concepts, knowledge, and skills that today’s graduates need. We regularly update our courses to stay aligned with the rapidly advancing field of computer engineering, ensuring our graduates are well-prepared for successful careers that shape the future. Our undergraduate program is ABET-accredited and adheres to the 2016 IEEE/ACM Body of Knowledge guidelines. Additionally, our state-of-the-art labs are equipped with the latest tools and technology, enhancing both our teaching and research excellence.
Graduates from our department hold degrees recognized and valued worldwide, equipped with a broad range of competencies in computer systems, spanning software and hardware design, embedded systems, computer architecture, computer networking, and information security. This strong foundation positions them to provide innovative solutions across industries.
Since its inception, our department has excelled in research and forged strong partnerships with leading industries such as Saudi Aramco, SABIC, Saudi Telecom, and the Ministry of Defense & Aviation, among others. These connections ensure that our graduates are highly sought after, not only in traditional IT roles but also in areas where computing is revolutionizing fields such as medicine, biology, chemistry, and social sciences. As computing continues to drive innovation, new career opportunities emerge for our graduates.
I am confident that you will find the Computer Engineering Department both interesting and stimulating, and I look forward to welcoming you to our vibrant academic community.
